Special baby gift patterns
I have a number of friends having babies and I would like to knit/crochet special and unique gifts for them. I've looked at a million blanket patterns but just can't find the right one. Do any of you have suggestions? It doesn't need to be a blanket. I would like to incorporate the baby's name, somehow. I would really like for it to be SOFT and especially SAFE.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions!! I love this site!

Thank you.

I recently knit a Blossom along with a diaper cover and socks for a friend. There's a picture of my completed outfit on my blog. It's titled the "super top secret project"

Hi,

I am knitting Zodiac from Knitty for my brother's new baby on the
way. Here is the link:

http://knitty.com/ISSUEsummer07/PATTzodiac.html

I am not using the zodiac symbol however since it would not be
appreciated but I love the idea of the knitted sleeping bag so
thought I'd add my own embellishment.

If I ever have another baby this is going to be one of his/her mommy-made blankets:

A friend of mine's cousin made one for her baby and it was really cute in person.

If you know there's a little lady on the way, I really love this pattern: http://www.chiagu.com/crumpets.html

It's so beautiful - and the smallest size is 6 months which most newborns fit into quite soon.

You have all found some beautiful patterns. I'm knitting a lacy type afghan pattern from Creative Knitting (Sept 2006 issue) right now and using a bulky weight fuzzy yarn from Patons which is super soft. It's knitting up quickly, too.

THANKS!! I decided to make this one http://www.crochetnmore.com/babysabcsafghan.htm and it is SO cute so far. I did up the hook size, though, because the size D hook was way too frustrating for me.
Thanks again!!
