How to increase in lace pattern

Hi, I am making my daughter a lace bolero. The pattern reads:

1st row: P4, *k2tog, yfwd, k1, yfwd, s1, k1, psso, p2, rep from * to last 2 sts, p2.
2nd row: K4, p5, *k2, p5, rep from * to last 4 sts, k4.

Work 25 rows, increasing 1st at each end of needle on next and every following 8th row.

Question is...How do I keep the pattern the same while increasing? Because if I increase and try to keep the pattern the same, then the stitches look all wonky?

You could increase in stockinette until you have enough stitches to make another repeat of the pattern, or just leave the increases in stockinette.

Or, you could keep the increased sections in a different stitch, like moss or a ribbing stitch. I would opt for putting in another repeat of the lace pattern, but, that's just me Then again, I would probably ask your daughter, to see what she wants.

I think you are both right, opt for putting in another lace pattern.
