This is very basic but have you tried bacon and mushrooms?
Fry the bacon and put in oven to keep warm. Drain the frying pan, leaving about a tablespoon of the oil in the pan. Add mushrooms (chopped if they're big). Fry gently for one minute and then gradually add milk -any kind, whole, skimmed, whatever - about a third of a pint. Bring to boil and then simmer for a few minutes until milk is mushroom coloured. Serve at once with warm bacon.
