annnnd another thing! I forgot about this one too - hold your nose closed with your hand, close both nostrils and swallow hard several times. You could have some fluid behind your ear drums deep in your sinus which could be causing issue too. I would have also suggest holding your nose and blowing down it like you were to blow into a tissue - this would push your ear drums out the opposite way to swallowing but I should NOT suggest that as it can be dodgy.

again, thanks to everyone - i actually went back to the opthamologist today (a new one this time, from the same medical group), and was diagnosed with ocular neuritis. i am glad to know that there really is something wrong with me, and it has a name - after seeing all these doctors, i was beginning to doubt myself. it is scary, as it is heavily associated with multiple sclerosis, but i am keeping my fingers crossed that it's just an isolated case.
