fibrenut, your socks and shrug look great (as far as I can see. Especially the shrug is really dark, so the cables are hard to see)

Fibrenut: the shrug looks great-the socks look a little blury, but I love the color!

I'm hoping to get some serious knitting done on dh's socks today. Caitlin did good last night sleeping so I feel rested enough to knit through nap time! It's pretty cold here this am, 28 (@ 9am) and windy! Wish I was disceplined enough to finish the afghan I started-only have 6 rows done on it though...may get that out too? So much to knit so little time...the story of any knitters life.

Good Morning Socksters!!

Gina~Yum, from scratch pancakes sound good!! Sorry to read that you had from your shawl...have you tried doing cables without a cable needles? or a dpn...sometimes I use a pencil too

Julie~The mittens look great!! Your new hair cut is cute...I used to keep mine that short...now it's below my shoulders but I'm ready for a change again...not sure if I want to go back to that style or somewhere in the middle ...LOL that is so true we have to much on our to do lists!! Her patterns are for largely socks and both paris will slouch on me...to big...I read somewhere that in March she is going to try and have a smaller size as well...the gauge is 8sts/inch, size 2 needle, CO of 64sts...

Tami~ YAY so glad you joined!! Can't wait to see the FOs they look good

Lieke~ doesn't dpf know we need updates...dealing with women who work with pointy sticks could be unhealthy for him? ...glad you checked in and Love the socks!!! I seen your dying experience on your blog...I don't know how you are doing it...I would prolly gave up and threw it away it's going to be very pretty!!

Carla~ I wouldn't know to check either...I hope she realizes that you would never do that on purpose...

I pmed Amy and Sheldon about starting an Any Sock Kal 2 didn't hear back...but I don't see why it would be a problem...I'm typing up the intro post in word...

We woke up to a fresh dusting of snow...still snowing a very fine snow...I started mom's 2nd snowflake yesterday...I couldn't work on it very much though my sinus meds wouldn't let me concentrate on the chart

I hope you all have a great day of knitting!!!

Happiest birthday to you, Tami !

GJ, I just use my tapestry needle as my cable needle for socks. I slide it into the stitches on the needle from the 'eye' end, and knit off of the pointed end.

pssst..... I kinda figured out a way to do cables without needles and without that pesky rearranging thing. It's kinda hard to explain but I think I might just use my prezzy hubby got me for christmas and make a vidoe of it. Much easier to show how to that way. What do ya all think?

TYTYTYTYTYTY for all the wonderful b-day wishes ya'll!!!!!

Dustina: thanks and hope you start to feel better. I tried to co 64 for my first pair it they were to narrow for my wide foot-so I tried 72 & that was too loose on my foot-so after dh's socks are done I'll try 68. Bound to get it right sometime! I hate that though b/c everyones patterns are written for 64sts. o well...I'll try it. Sure seems like his socks are taking forever-guess that's life with a newborn and 2 other kiddos.
Dotty: you're so smart-never thought of using an actual needle!

Tami: so I'm waiting...jk. You will have to post the video on your blog and tell us when it's ready-I'm curious.

OK back to feed the baby and then knit some more. If I'd turn the computer off I'd get more knitting done, but y'all are so much fun to talk to!
and thanks for all the sweet compliments on my blog, I'm starting to get used to my haircut~still thinking I will grow it out again. Men must think we're crazy, cut it short, grow it long, repeat.

Thanks Y'all for the cable ideas!

Tami, I'd LOVE to see your process for doing it! I watched the video on here for doing cables w/o a needle. It looks pretty finicky!

LOVE your knitted stuff pictures!
