I just got back from Wal-Mart where I got some Bernat Softee Chunky in red and white and navy (they didn't have slightly brighter blue) and black for the other charity squares. I am ready to knit!

Never used it so can't help there. The yarns I recommend for making 6"x9" rectangles are the nice smooth worsted weight yarns... like Red Heart Super Saver, Lion Brand Vanna's Choice, Bernat Berella "4" or Bernat Super Value. They are easy to use and make nice rectangles.

I have some Vanna's Choice but it's mustard. I like it, but will soldiers? I'll get more but I can't today and I want to make rectangles.

Mustard color is perfect!!!!! Think "male" as you decide on colors - remember no pink, peach or pastels (any colors). Brights are fine.
