How to make a center-pull ball (without a yarn winder)
I put together a picture tutorial on my blog on how to make a center-pull ball using paper towel tube. Just thought I would post it in it's own thread to make it more visible for those that want to learn and don't want to spend money on a yarn winder. It's a great alternative if you only have a few skeins/hanks to wind or don't need to wind yarn all the time. Hope someone finds it helpful.

i always cut a little slit into the tube and pull the yarn into the slit so that it won't move while i'm winding.

Wow! What a great idea! Thanks for sharing this technique. I like the fact that I can recycle the paper towel tube.

Now, only to choose which skein from my stash to work with...:-)

That's really great of you to do. I'm going to have to check out your tutorial and that technique. I did it for the first time a couple of months ago on my fingers, and have to say I was almost as proud of my first center pull ball as I was of my first scarf!

Thanks!!
