Help with my socks

I'm working on my second pair of socks & am having a problem I didn't have before. I'm working with Rowan Tapestry yarn and tho' I'm careful to work tightly at each end of the needle I still have a gap/loose column between the stitches on one needle and and next!?

I didn't have this problem with the last pair when working with 100% wool. Any suggestions ?

Tapestry isn't a very springy yarn, so that's probably why you're getting ladders more with it. You could move your stitches to avoid having the spot between two needles always in the same place. Just knit a couple of stitches from one needle to the other before using your empty one. Just keep a marker in place to remind you of where the round begins.
