My pattern specifically says to BO using Single Crochet Bind Off method. I just went and watched Amy's video and I can't tell how it is any different from the Basic Knit Bind Off that I normally do.
I realize that the crochet hook makes it different, but what the yarn is actually doing looks the same to me. Am I missing something? Is there a reason I can't just do the Basic Knit BO instead?
*can you tell that I don't have a crochet hook anywhere near the right size and I don't want to wait to finish this

No, there is no difference. Binding Off with knitting needles is actually crocheting with knitting needles. It creates the same edge. The advantage of using a crochet hook is that it generally helps you keep your BO looser.
