yarn over

please help.
im making a pair of socks using two cicular needles and have got to the heel. it tells me to turn the work and then yarn over and continue on the row but the working yarn is in the work place as i havent knitted the last stitch and so i dont understand how to yarn over from the left.
Any clues?

What do the instructions actually read? I know many of the socks I knit say, "P1(or K1) yo, P1, s1...." If it does say "Yo, K1 (or P1 or whatever next) then I would simply move the thread around the needle the appropriate way so that you get that extra stitch and the yarn is hanging the correct direction for the next stitch (K or P).

Just thought of something else. Could you possibly need to yo onto your holding needle rather than on the working needle and then knit that yo? Count your stitches in that row and see if they add up correctly.

ive tried that but now its just come out really holey on side where i have to yo on the purl side. how can i improve that?

yo's do make holes...is that part of the pattern? Is there a picture of how it should look when finished?

on the picture it doesnt have any holes its just like a normal heel so i dont understand how to make it any better. is there any other way of creating a stitch at the beginning of the row so it will come out the same?

And the pattern says to twist the yarns around each other to prevent holes as the colours change. Have you been doing that?

Hi again, the problem isnt with the colour change at all, the pattern says do a yarn over at the beginning of the row over several holes when doing the heel. It just leaves a hole but the pattern in no way shows a hole on the sides(see link in previous posting)

Please help

And you have reversed the yo's as the pattern notes say to do?

Failing all that, you can go to the designers blog or email her directly and ask. Those contact details are at the bottom of the page. I think that may be the best option and it helps the designer know how they might improve the pattern explanation.
