Simple Raglan Sweater Pattern
I'm looking for the simplest raglan sweater, no cables, no fancy anythings, I just want a simple sweater for my first one. I was hoping it would have some shaping to the waist area but it's not really a big deal if it doesn't. I've looking at kpc, knitty.com and magknits, but I can't seem to find a simple ol' sweater. If someone knows a book or anything I'd love to know.

Thanks

If you're willing to pay for one, Knitting Pure and Simple patterns are very well written and easy to follow. They have a "knit-a-long" kind of tutorial for one, too. My first sweater was #9724.

And it was easy to follow? I'm pretty bad at finishing large projects, 'specially if I get frustrated with them, hehe.

Yes, I found it very easy to follow. There will be a few things that you won't know...like how the neck works, but that doesn't have anything to do with the KPS patterns, that is just a raglan. If you want an idea of how it's put together look at this guide.

And don't forget you can always ask here for help.

I also found this on Knitty. Not sure how easy it is yet, I still have to check it out, but I know it's something I've been wanting to try!

ETA: It doesn't look hard, but I've made an adult and a dozen or more baby sweaters. You might want to use an established pattern the first time.

Ooh, I think I'll use that one from Knitty! Thanks for the link, I've already got my yarn picked out. :D

http://knittingfool.com has a sweater calculator for these, and other kinds, of sweaters. It's based on the percentages in the article. I've used it to make the drop sleeve sweater knit in the round bottom to top. The directions assume you know things (which I didn't but got my questions answered here) and the sweater came out great! Very cool! I can't wait to get started on this. I'll post pics when I'm done.

You can try this one:

I am working on it now, it is easy to follow. If I am not mistaken, a couple of other KH'ers have already made this sweater. You have to pay for the pattern.
