Reverse Shaping!

Ok Ive read up on reverse shaping and Im still getting confused. One thing I read said to do the shaping on the opposite side. (ws instead of rs) Another said to do the shaping at the opposite end (shaping at the end of the row as opposed to the beginning of the row). Another said to rewrite the directions backwards??? Or am I supposed to do all of the above? Any clarification that can be offered would be greatly appreciated.
