Substituting Yarns

Hi all Hope you can help. This is my first post!

I've just found a lovely pattern for a throw which I'd love to knit. The pattern is for Rowan Chunky Soft wool which I believe has been discontinued - does anyone know which yarn I can substitute? Preferably in a less expensive brand!

Any chunky or bulky weight yarn, Category 5 on the Yarn Standards table. You would be looking for something labeled with a gauge of 12-15 st/4in on size 5.5-8mm/US11.

If you shop internet, at most stores you can choose to look at yarns by weight, so that may give you some ideas of brand names if you look through the bulky/chunky section.

Lion's Woolease Chunky or Thick and Quick may be a good sub. Bernat Softee Chunky if you don't mind all acrylic.

thanks for the advice ladies- I'm only coming back to knitting after several years and this yarn standards table is all new to me! Can't wait to get started now!!
