Would switching needs be bad here?

So, the pattern called for size 8 24in circular needles. I REALLY need more space (I don't know how they thought I could 400 some stitches on 24 inch). The only larger circular I have is a size 9. Would it be bad to switch between rows?

Wellllll, it might make it a slightly larger gauge, but may not be so noticeable due to the construction of it. Try it and see how it works out.
