yarn for a sweater?

Just curious what yarn y'all would reccomend for a sweater. I want to knit myself a sweater and would prefer not to spend bunches, maybe something from knitpicks. Any suggestions? (not 100% wool, I need to be able to wash it in the machine-kids)

Well, no 100% wool about rules out any suggestions I'd had, but-

Debbie Bliss Merino aran is machine washable.

Does it need to be a wool blend? I'm currently in love with Lion Brand Cotton Ease. It's wonderful to work with - even after being frogged many times - and washes great. I haven't experienced any shrinking or fading and I wear the one shirt I knit all the time, so it also gets washed pretty frequently. It's a good price too - $4.99 for 207 yds and it's often on sale for $2 or $3. Oh, and it's a 50/50 cotton/acrylic blend.

doesn't have to bee wool, but for a sweater I was wanting something warm. winters in NM can get really cold. Not Great Lakes states cold, but cold enough.

I'm planning on making a regular sweater out of it, and I live in PA.

A cotton sweater would still be warm, just not as warm as wool.

One other suggestion: Paton's Decor. It's a wool blend, 75% acrylic/ 25% wool. I think it's cheaper per yard than wool ease. I like it - very soft with a nice sheen. Tons of colors, too.

I don't have anyplace near me I can buy paton's to compare with the local price of woolease, but going by what the online stores charge they're about the same price.

I just checked Joann.com and woolease is half the price and about 13 yds less than Paton's. Definately the better deal.

I was thinking of doing knitpicks 100% superwash merino wool it's almost $.37 a yard, and the patons decor is $.38 a yard and the wool ease is $.66 a yard! Holy cow that's a big difference! Lion Brand cotton-ease is about $.52 a yard.
hummm, I didn't know joanns sold sock yarn...patons kroy I think it was called. hummmmmmm
o yeah sweater yarn, anyone done one out of acrylic?
