crochet gift: water bottle holder and gift bag
A friend of ours is turning 11. Pre-teens are tough to craft for, they aren't little kids anymore, but they aren't teens either! so I made the water bottle carrier from Mr Funky Super Crochet Wonderful in Paton's Astra to get a wacky rainbow effect. (love that book!) the little silver charm is a sun, with the inscription "made with a smile". the buttons are sunflowers.

Then, I crocheted a candy corn potholder using a pattern from crochetpatterncentral. I glued it to a plain canvas bag with my hot glue gun. then I glued this cute candy corn ribbon onto the handles for trim. voila! a gift bag!

then I tied a card on with some crazy eyelash yarn.

We gave it to Rosy this morning- and she loved it! she is taking the water bottle carrier directly to school. and she wants me to teach her how to crochet!

gifts
Really nice gifts. What is really cool is being asked to teach her how to crochet!!!!! A new convert to the craft!! Start them young and maybe they will stick with it. Show her the stitches and then together find a fun and cool pattern of something she can wear. That might keep her interested when she discovers she can make really nice things to wear.

Thanks!! I can't wait to teach her- she's a smart girl and I bet she will learn fast. I'm thinking maybe a long striped scarf, or a purse as a first project.... my neighbor wants to learn too- yay!
