Help finding a scarf pattern for a man

I've searched and can't find a pattern I like yet for a man's scarf . I'll be doing it in sport weight varigated ( sp) yarn . I would love to find something that will show off the color changes if possible .

Any Ideas ?

BTW this is my first post ( besides the one when I joined and introduced myself ) but I love reading the forum !

I like the pattern from Knit picks. It looks like you could even use Silvers Palindrome pattern and adapt it to the Seaman's scarf. Hmmmm . . . I may have to do that one for my husband.

Thanks Sue . I like the Fishermans scarf pattern too . I'm going to swatch it and see if holding two strands of sport weight yarn together will work . I've " got" to use this particular yarn as it's what the person I'm knitting it for picked out .

Very masculine, I think, despite the name.

Also, I think that the farrow rib makes a very interesting scarf, a little more oomph than your usual ribbing, and good for men.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful patterns you posted links too . I bookmarked some and printed off some to add to the stash . I went outside to do yardwork and decided to come in and rest a bit and let the yarn tell me what it wanted to do . So first I did swatches on several different sizes of needles to see what I liked . Picked a set and then just started doing random types of stitches to see if I could find something to show off the color changes in t his yarn . Guess what ? I found it
Here's what I'm doing ;
I cast on an odd number of stitches ( 67 ) and on size 4 US needles

Row 1; K1, Yarn front , Slip 1 as if to purl , Yarn back Knit 1 repeat to end .
Row 2 Purl all
Row 3; Slip one, Knit 1 , yarn front , slip as if to purl . repeat to end .
Row 4 Purl all

I'm going to continue to do these four rows until I get the scarf as long as I like it . It really works with the color changes

Under the picture of the scarf in the blog is a link to her yahoo group. She moved all the files over there. I had to join the group, but as I already had an email account with yahoo, it was easy enough. Then at her yahoo group page click on files to get to the download.

If that doesn't work, I do have the pdf saved, so if you pm me your email addy I could send it to you.

I found the Miranda scarf pattern on the yahoo groups that the creater of it owns . Join that yahoo group . go to the File's section and you'll find LOADS of scarf patterns as well as hat patterns and dishcloth patterns . She's one talented creater/knitter !
