Christmas project
As soon as the holder of the purse-strings gives me the go-ahead, I'm gonna make Cleaves from Knitty. What yarn could I substitute for the Lamb's Pride Bulky? The gauge is 12 sts/18 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch , should I look for another yarn with this gauge? I'm still slightly clueless on substitutions.

Yes, look for another yarn that is the same weight and gauge. Try this site and see if it helps a bit.
