When your child's first word is knit. (DH not very happy about it either).
omg, that one had my ROTFL

you know when you're a knitter when you hasve yarn in your closet and in huge storage containers under your bed, and in your sister's dresser drawers, and you still have to buy 5 storage drawers to fit the rest (and you wish you had a few more)

Your stash on KP is well over $1000....

You have the KH forum as one of your home page tabs and don't even check you E-mail till you've looked at all the new posts...

You start looking at buildings for rent and think, that would make a great yarn shop...

You've kicked your MySpace addiction for a KH addiction...

Oops that's me! And now Ravelry's got its own home page tab too!

..When you look at the spring flowers and blossoms and think that would make a great colourway for a yarn! Wonder if /where I can find one!

You know you're a knitter when... You're distractedly trying to "parent" and your son says:

"Huh? You want me to go and knit my room for a time out?"

or...

the children at the school in which you work are coming down with the chicken pox and various illnesses and you find yourself thinking... well if I got a little sick... I could likely have some knitting time!

When you go to an auctions with your knitting and don't actually bid until half way through since you are in the middle of the repeat. Actually it really did take that long to get to what I wanted last night. The older men really commented on how I could knit and keep track of what was happening.

... when your "my favourites" section of the web browser on your laptop has a few folders for unimportant things like banking, but many folders for knitting patterns, knitting websites, knitting support/help/information and knitting blogs.

I LOVE YOUR TATTOO!!!

OMG!!!!!! I'm fairly new to this forum and I've GOT to give you props on the tattoo...

You know you're a knitter when you get insanely jealous of another KH member's Knit-Purl tattoo. Lol!!!
