Newsboy cap

Does anyone know if the newsboy cap from stitch and bitch nation will look like this if I omit the cabling?

I think it would. You'd have to make it a little longer though because the newsboy cap is fairly short. And I think you'd have to re-figure the ribbing to make it even. I think the S&B hat has thinner non-cable ribs and thicker cable ribs.
