Having Trouble With Purl
I've gotten the knit stitch down. However, everytime i try to purl, I dont seem to be pulling the yarn though. I have the loop that was on my left needle on the right, with the yarn in between, but it's just twisted around the needle, not actually knitted (purled?) into my project.

Have you checked out the "how to" videos here at knittinghelp.com? Check out the "purling" video under the "getting started" tab. I find that SEEING it happen often helps me learn/see how to do be successful doing a stitch myself.

Best of luck to you!

Here's some help for purling and knitting
http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/basic_techniques/purl.php

The videos here in KH sometimes do not work, but they are updating them. Here's more help if you need it.

I learned to purl from the videos on this site, took a little while to 'click' though and didn't look pretty until I had done it a few times. I found it helps to see it done on the videos. Keep trying and good luck, you'll get it, if I can anyone can!

I agree 100%!! Usually I'm an "audio" learner (is that the term? It's 7:00 in the morning here and I'm on my first cup of coffee) and if you tell me something, I'll get it and remember it. But not for knitting!!! I've got to see it happen. I just learned SSK by watching the video here. They are wonderful videos.

I would also HIGHLY recommend the videos on this site. As cumbersome as it sounds, I literally sat in front of my computer for like 45 mins going through that video in 5 second chunks. I'd watch a few seconds, pause, try to duplicate what I'd seen, I'd screw it up, and start over again. I'm pretty sure I even yelled at the screen a couple times. Lol!!

Keep it up!! You'll get it!

Just keep practicing! You'll get it!!!

I purled wrong for years! I wrapped the yarn in the worng direction. It was this site that taught me how to do it right. I still every once in a while find myself wrapping wrong.
