Length of Options needles

Hello,

Can one of you knitters with the Knitpicks Options set
tell me how long the actual needle is? I tried checking
from the website but couldn't find any mention of it. I
want just the length of the needle tip....not including any
cable. I am considering ordering a set for my Christmas
present but have recently realized that all the circulars
I prefer to use in my stash have sort of long needles. I have
some Inox circulars that I never use because they feel like
there is not enough needle to grab and I would hate to spend
the money on the Options set only to find the needle tips
are shorter than what I prefer to knit with.

I just measured mine - looks like a tiny smidge over 5" long. Now that's for the whole thing - from tip to the bottom where it joins.

I have to tell you, when I first got mine I was worried at how small they seemed, but they are SOOO wonderful to work with - really!

How fun that you are doing some Christmas shopping for yourself. Good for you!

It's 4.5" long

yes, the needle is 4.5" long, but there is just over 1/2 inch of metal on the cable that you attach it to, making it feel like just over 5 inches. however, i have a pair of the 16" fixed needles, and the needle is significantly shorter on those, just under 3.5".

hope we're helping you with your decision! i absolutely love mine...the cables are so flexible, the needles so pointy...just perfect for me!

I have the Harmony Interechaneable set and I love them. They are my favorite now even more than my Denise set.

Ok great! Thanks everyone for the replies! I measured
my current favourites and they are 5.5" and now I need
to dig out the ones I don't like and see how long they are
and compare to the length of the Options. Who knew
needle shopping would be so hard! hehe...

At the low cost of the Options it wight be worthwhile to order 1 set of tips in your favorite size and 1 set of cables to try the needles. If you like them and order the set you'll just have 2 sets of tips in your favorite size and extra cables.

Yeah, I had thought about just ordering a single set to
see how they are but I am in the States for a limited time
so want to order while I am there and I doubt I'm going to have
too much time for knitting while getting all my visiting/
shopping done so I'm probably just gonna bite the bullet
and order the full set. I measured the shorter ones that I
don't care for and they come in at about 3.75" so I think
the options will be long enough. It's just that I hold the
needles sort of odd I suppose. I wrap my pinky and ring
finger around to hold teh weight of the needles and my
other fingers are used for yarn and needle manipulation so
shorter needles cause my hands to cramp because there
isn't really enough room to get all my fingers positioned the
way I like....it's weird

WAIT! The 16 inch ones have a very short needle - it cramps up my hands....just keep this in mind!

I think the 16" ones only come in a fixed circular and don't come in the interchangable set, so if you are just ordering the set this shouldn't be a problem.
