Yummy - Schaefer Laurel

About four years ago my grandmother gave me a hank of Schaefer's Laurel yarn in the Shari Lewis colourway. It is a luxurious mercerized Pima cotton yarn and it's too yummy for me not to use. I was thinking about a nice, light pair of socks. The only problem is that it is listed as a worsted weight yarn, but it's very thinly plied. It has a listed gauge of 5 sts/in. Would this work for socks? I've never knitted socks from worsted weight yarn before.

Yeah, you can make socks out of worsted weight yarn. ^_^ You'd have to find a pattern that fits the gauge, or adjust as necessary, but there are a bunch of patterns for socks in different-weight yarns

you can get on the schaefer yarn website. They have patterns for each of their yarns and there is a shop that you can buy the patterns from.
