How much yarn for mittens?
Hi,

I would like to purchase some yarn online but i dont want to overbuy or underbuy...

Most of the mitten patterns i found dont tell me how much yarn in grams or yards i need to make mittens...

Is there anyone that has knitted mittens before know approximately how many balls of yarn i need to make mittens? (and do men and women have a huge difference in terms of the size and how much more yarn it needs?)

Thanks so much!

It depends on what kind of yarn you are buying (many yarns come in 6 oz. skeins and some only come in 3 oz.) on my mittens I used Caron Simply Soft (6 oz. a skein) and I used about half the skein. I made a size small, so you would need more yarn if you were making mittens for a big man's hands. so if you are buying any yarn that comes in a small skein (like 3 oz.) get two balls, and if you are buying a yarn that comes in larger ones (like 6 oz.) you will probably only need one
