Lionbrand Baby Socks

If you guys have looked at the Lion Design catalog for fall/winter, there are some adorable baby socks on p. 41. You can get the free patterns for all the variations - all of which use a short row heel.

My question is, what is the advantage to using a short row heel for these small socks? It seems easier to use a traditional turned heel. What do you think?

I don't know that it makes any difference really. Probably just the person who wrote the pattern prefers short heels.
