That is absolutely beautiful! You did such a wonderful job. I really want to try lace knitting, but am a bit intimidated by it.

Thanks! Lace knitting really isn't that hard. It's broken down into strategically placed yarn overs and decreases. This shawl wouldn't be good for a beginner, because the directions are a bit vague in a few, sometimes crucial, areas. Try the Branching Out Scarf from www.knitty.com, or maybe Cheryl Oblere's Kimono Shawl from her book Folk Shawls. Elizabeth Zimmermann's Pi Shawl (pattern available from Schoolhouse press for $1).

Wow! I am really impressed. My goal is to some day knit something like that, but I am a little too chicken to try yet. I am going to do a lace washcloth to get my toes wet.
