afghan hooks and knit-crochet books

I own 1 double-ended afghan hook, a fairly lg. size, like a K maybe, and want some other sizes but I can't find any. It is used for "knit-crochet" which is essentially double-ended afghan/Turkish crochet. Would like some books for this. I have one book but can't find any others.

Cro-hooking is a fun process and no more difficult than basic crochet. It's stitch patterns create more of a closed, double sided, (much like double knit) fabric.

isn't it also called tunisian crochet? I've also seen it called "crochet-on-the-double" in some Annie's Attic catalogs from the 90's. I have 2 or 3 of them, I found them in the clearance aisle at my Michaels and bought one of G, H and I think I... I've been practicing with a simple scarf pattern. it is interesting, and makes a nice thick fabric.

nexstitch.com offers patterns for tunisian crochet, and you might want to check e-patternscentral.com (not free) I think they sell most of the patterns for Annie's these days.

Tunisian/Aghan crochet uses a long hook with a stop on the other end, cro-hook is a double-ended hook, and you use to balls of yarn at a time.

They call Cro-Hook many things because the name is actually trademarked, but it's all the same thing!

Cro-Hook is a trade mark of Wrights, they are a double-ended crochet hook (Bates uses that clear/simple term) and Pony calls them Tunisian crochet hooks. When my mom taught me to crochet, she had a Cro-hook and I used it to make a scarf and hat set that I still own (now over 30 years later).

I too have been looking for either afghan or double-ended crochet hooks for some of my project ideas. Really, if you need an afghan hook, why not get the double-ended hook and just put a point protector on one end? I like it when a tool has two or more uses. Boye says they are carried at A. C. Moore, Michaels, JoAnn's, and Wal-Mart. That must be their general product line and not specific to the Cro-Hook.

I found this site (www.spinblessing.com/search.php?Query=Boye) where you can order double-ended hooks in US sizes F through N. Really, if you need an afghan hook, why not get the double ened and use a point protector as your stop? I like it when a tool has two or more uses. Hm, a 14 inch, double-ended hook for the price of about three regular aluminum crochet hooks.

Did you try Annie's Attic? I got the larger size hooks from them this summer. They still have patterns as I have seen them on their web site and in their catalogs.

www.joann.com has the best selection in sizes of cro-hooks/double end and afghan hooks - both Boye and Susan Bates.
