Please, someone help! My first sweater needs your help! (trouble with rep dec row)
So here's the part of a raglan sweater pattern that I love so much already and it's just a square of the front that I can not understand after much searching for the answer:

SHAPING THE ARMHOLE:
(starting with 66 sts)
Row 1 and all WS rows Purl. Row 2 K2, p1, k to last 3 sts, p1, k2. Row 4 (dec row) K2, p1, k1, ssk, k to last 6 sts, k2tog, k1, p1, k2. Working in pat as established, rep dec row every 6th row 3 times and every 4th row 6 times- 46 sts.

if the pattern that is established only has 4 rows, how do i add the dec row every 6th row? and what does the 3 times mean? Is "rep the dec row" just adding the stitch and adding it 3 times to every 6th row? what is going on here??!!!

thank you in advanced to whoever is kind enough to help a starved knitter of 3 days because of this one part in the pattern.

My interpretation:

The "pattern as established" in this case does not refer to the instructions for decreasing for the armhole. It is referring to the general pattern of the sweater body. So, the four rows described apply strictly to the first four rows as you begin to shape the armhole. After that, you knit the rows as you have been for the body of the sweater, except you insert the decrease rows as instructed.

Thank you so much!! <3 You are a sweater saver.

I have one more question though, for inserting the dec rows, is this how it should go:

row 1: pat as established
row 2: pat as established
row 3: pat as established
row 4: dec row
row 5: pat as established
row 6: dec row
row 7: pat as established
row 8: pat as established
row 9: pat as established
row 10: dec row
row 11: pat as established
row 12: dec row
row 13: pat as established
row 14: pat as established

because i still don't understand where to repeat the dec row, is it absolutely every 4th row and 6th row or am I supposed to just work in multiples of 6?

Your first dec is on the 4th row of the shaping instructions, but the next one will be on the 6th row after that. So dec on rows 4, 10, 16, 22.

As I understand It:

row 1: purl
row 2: K2, p1, k to last 3 sts, p1, k2
row 3: purl
row 4: dec row
row 5: pat as established
row 6: pat as established
row 7: pat as established
row 8: pat as established
row 9: pat as established
row 10: dec row
row 11: pat as established
row 12: pat as established
row 13: pat as established
row 14: pat as established
row 15: pat as established
row 16: dec

Hope someone chimes in, but that would be my understanding.
