Sunday, my DH made me a swift, and I wanted to show it to all of you. Wow, I can't believer how much faster winding a hank of yarn is now.

Reason: Misspellings
My husband IS my swift. I like making him sit with me for 20 min or so!

They're quite easy to make guys! Just a spinning cross. There are tutes online somewhere. Remember to make them big enough, my first go was too small (whoops)
Here is a link to a homemade swift. http://www.craftydiversions.com/patt...yarn_swift.htm
My husband followed the instructions for the top part of it, but instead of making the bottom part, he just screwed it onto a lazy susan. It didn't take him very long once he got started.

Great idea! My LYS will wind yarns for customers, including yarns bought other places, as long as you buy something from them at the time. Not a bad deal, I can always find something!

Oh, I like that better than the clamp-to-the-table ones. And...there are a few like this for sale on Etsy, though they didn't do the lazy susan option.
