Box-like bag pattern?

Has anybody seen one anywhere? I want to knit a gift bag for the scarf I'm giving my Grandma, but I havent seen anything that resembles a gift bag. I didnt really want to knit a normal bag for it, but I guess I will if I cant find anything else.

lol! I feel rather silly now... But thank you for the links, I think I may do a hybrid type thing with the cocktail monkey bag and another bag I found on knitty called the paper bag.

One way I'd approach doing a box bag (I assume that means a square bottom so it sits flat on the floor) is to first knit a rectangle that is a little bit (like 1/4") larger than you want. Bind off.

Then take either a circular needle or a set of double-points and pick up stitches all around the four edges of the rectangle. Knit away in a circle until your bag's the right length.

Maybe you could put a slip-stitch every other row at the 4 corners so your bag holds (as much as flexible knitting can hold) the square/rectangle form.

Thats good thinking, Dot. I realized that the bag I was thinking of knitting was made out of hemp, and I think hemp will be slightly too scratchy and hard to match the thickness with yarn. So since I've never knitted with circs and such before, im thinking maybe I could knit 5 rectangles, of varying sizes, seam them up and then put a piece of cardboard in the bottom and line the sides with some satin fabric scraps I have in a drawer. I'm thinkng I could even knit the rectangles in red and go to the fabric store and pick up some green remnants of some sort, so it will be Christmas-y.
