Continental Question
For those of you who have knit both English and Continental...how does your gauge compare between the two styles? I am currently knitting a scarf that is a tube of stockinette (similar to the Harry Potter House Scarves), and since it is fairly boring, I have decided to give Continental knitting a try. I have been able to get into a nice rhythm with it, but I feel like my knitting is looser. I was just wondering if this pretty common or if my Cont. knitting will tighten as I become more experienced with it.

Same here, and it did tighten with practice. I'm not sure it'll ever be as tight as some of the English knitting I see, so of course smaller needles work there.

As a general rule:

If I knit English... 1 needle size larger than pattern to hit gauge.

If I knit Continental... usually same size as recommended in the pattern.

I knit Continental 99% of the time...my gauge is much, much looser when I knit English.
