DK sock yarn
I really like to make socks, but I the fingering weight is too fine for what I want, and I find worsted weight is too thick. Does anyone know of a DK weight sock yarn that is good to work with?
Thanks

I did a Google search and found some sport/DK weights of yarn.

Yes, in general it sounds like you're looking for a good sports-weight yarn.

I've made tons of socks. The weight of yarn I use varies with who the socks are for [hubby loves heavy socks to run around the house in; my mother always wears thin socks and has selected her shoes with this in mind; when I go for a winter hike, I need heavy wool socks]. Sometimes you want more durable sock-slippers, so then you'd craft a sole to sew on them.

And when we go to the Celtic festivals and hubby dresses in his kilt... he sports the most intricately-cabled knee socks you can imagine.

I actually have the same question. I like to knit THICK socks, but sock-weight yarn is NOT thick. Should I just look for Superwash wool (or blend) in sport or DK weight? I used OnLine SuperSocke for my last pair. It's okay, but scratchy to knit with.

Hi there! I've knit socks with dk yarn, and if you don't mind acrylic many would do. I found some fine wool, but not too fine, at Wal Mart, and it's called Georgia Yarn. I haven't knit with it yet, but it feel beautifully soft. It would work up in a dk pattern. For acrylic, I've used James Brett's Marble, and it seems to be wearing well. I don't dry it in the dryer, though. I like to knit dk weight socks for winter. They do knit up faster, too.
