knitting/crochet needle

many years ago, I knitted a blanket with 2 needles that were huge like knitting needles, but had hooks like a crochet needle. I knitted with the two needles, although the stich was a cross between crocheting and knitting. I only have one needle left (two are needed to make this stich).

Do you know the name of this needle. When I ask someone, they say is it a crochet needle or a knitting needle. It's both in one.

Can you help me? Also, where do I find another one?

thanks so much.

I heard about this recently on the podcast, Sticks and String. He was using it for picking up stitches around armholes and neckholes and was using the Addi Turbo Cro-Hook (it's the 5th item down on the left column). Based on the link, it looks like this one only comes in one size though and I don't think it's really meant for using for an entire project. Sounds like it's meant just for the ease of picking up stitches, and then you knit off of it onto your regular needle.

Boye also makes what's called a cro-hook, but it's a double ended crochet hook, with hooks on both ends.

It's an afghan crochet hook if.....
it is long like a knitting needle but has a crochet hook at the end instead of a tip like a knitting needle would. I got mine at Hobby Lobby, think Joann's has them too.

Hope this helps.

Hook/point needles, otherwise known as Portuguese knitting needles, can be found here.

A video of knitting Portuguese-style can be found here.

It looks really cool.

I am not obsessed, I'm just highly pre-occupied!
