i've been working on a hat for my brother in 2x1 ribbing and i realized something. if the hat in the movie was 2x1, the part that folds up (the underside) would look different from the rest of the hat. if it's 2x2, would using a heavier yarn sort of keep the ribs closer together (squooshing the purls), therefore making it look like 2x1?

Oh, yeah, it must be 2x2 to get the cuff to look the same......Actually, I wonder if it is just a bit big on her, therefore not very stretched out? When I knit 2x2, it seems that it looks that way, until you stretch it over something. I really think now that the footy pattern might be 100% the way to go - plus it looks easy :P

Oh, and be sure to post pics after you finish it!

ONE more thing........check out footy on ravelry!

i can't believe i didn't think to look for it on ravelry! thanks! i think you're right about it not being stretched out. they may have used a thicker yarn, too. maybe it's me, but it just looks a little bulkier than worsted.
