newbie knitter needs question answered

Hi, am a newbie knitter that has only made a few things so far. I am attempting to make a patchwork afghan that involves knitting squares, then sewing squares together. The question I have is this, what is meant by casting off in a seed stitch. I only know of one way to bind off, but don't know what casting off in seed stitch means. Would appreciate any help I can get.

You would knit the first stitch, bring the yarn forward and purl the next stitch, slip the knitted stitch over the purled and off the needle. Return the yarn to the back and Knit the next stitch, slip the purled stitch over the knitted and off the needle. Then bring the yarn forward and purl the next stitch and repeat passing the first stitch over the second. Take it one stitch at a time and it'll work. Just watch those YO and YB so you don't create an extra stitch. Always yarn forward to purl and yarn back to knit. Hope this helps. Mary

Casting off is the same as binding off. Doing so in pattern is easy - the BO is really only the part where you slip one st over the other, the rest is just working the row. So do two sts in seed st, pass the first st over, do the next st, pass the st over, etc.
