If I'm reading my sweater patter correctly, I believe I'm supposed to do armhole shaping by decreasing on purl rows. Can this be right?
I'm knitting in stockinette and this is what it says, with the first row being knit:
"Bind off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st at beg and end of every other row twice."
So I bound off 3 knit stitches, then 3 purl stitches on the next row. It seems to me that I would then K 1 row, P the next row with dec's, k 1 row, P with dec's again.
Ok, so I'm a fairly new knitter, but I'll take a wild leap here. If I have this correct, I think it's reading like this:
Row 1: B/O 3 sts knitwise, k across row to end
Row 2: B/O 3 sts purlwise, p across row to end
Row 3: k2tog, k across row to last 2 sts, k2tog
Row 4: p across
Row 5: k2tog, k across row to last 2 sts, k2tog
Row 6: p across
Row 7:k2tog, k across row to last 2 sts, k2tog
Row 8: p across
Row 9: k2tog, k across row to last 2 sts, k2tog
