Pattern question :D Please help ^^
My friend is making this beret:

but she isn't sure if the stitches they counted for each round includes the double crochets before the * symbol. If they count it...isn't the end of each round going to have a hole? Is that supposed to happen? Thanks! :D

The dc before the * will count. For example, on round 2: The chain 3 counts as 1 dc, then you dc in the same st (2 dc), then 2 dc in the next st (4 dc) then 24 more dcs (2 in each st). This will give you a total of the 28 dcs without leaving a hole (thanks to the ch 3)
