Slip 2 sts to the cable needle to front, P1, K2 from the cable needle

but i don't understand the instructions...

i am assuming that you know and have a cable needle, so that means you are knitting with 3 needles, you slip the 2 sts on to the cable needle and either put this to the front of your work or the back of your work depending what the patterns says, then knit what ever the patterns say, then you knit the stitches of the cable needle and the carry on

If you don't have a cable needle, you can use a dpn, another needle or a pencil to hold the stitches.
