Labels

Do any of you sew personalized labels into the garments you knit? A friend of mine had custom labels made that say:

Hand Knit with Love by --------

I just wondered if anyone else did this?

I do. I have one that says how to care for wool, and a couple with my name.

I don't always use them, but often. One thing I like about them is that if the garment is passed on (like childrens items often are), that the new owner will be able to see that it was hand made, and by whom.

I purchased some from http://www.namemaker.com/ last year as a gift to a fellow knitter. They came out fantastic, but it took a few weeks to get them.

Hope this link work. It's the other thread about labels and it has several links to label suppliers. I use labels in the stuff I give as gifts. I put in personalized labels (e.g. "Handmade for you by ______"), material labels (e.g., "100% Acrylic" or "100% Wool"), as well as cleaning instruction labels (e.g., "Hand wash cold; Dry flat."). I'm always amazed at how grateful the recipient is for the labels...sometimes seems like they're as grateful for the label as for the gift.

I've used SterlingTape.com with good success.

I usually do this if it is for a gift for my grandchildren or my DD. I have been known to put it into a new baby gift, saying "Specially hand made for baby" and I even had some one time that said "Made with TLC".

You can make your own! Here is a link. I love these because you can personalize each tag. My SIL told me the other day she was putting on the sweater I made her last year and how the tag still makes her smile. The tag says "Hand Knit with Love for my favorite sister in law xoxo, Holly". It's kind of a joke between us because she is my only sister in law. But I really do love her!
I have a lot of fun making the tags. The supplies needed to make them really don't cost too much, which is always a plus. For some reason I don't have a single picture of the tags I have made.
