Knitting Letters

Hi, just wondered if anyone anywhere had any ideas/patterns of how to go about just knitting a letter - as you'd find on a keyring maybe?

I don't want a square block with the letter in a different colour, or raised / sunken using knits and purls, but just a letter... on it's own...

Can anyone help?

Pictures here (scroll down) of a complete set of alphabet letters.
These are larger stuffed ones I think and no pattern for them
but could you perhaps do smaller ones with I-cord, using this as a rough sort of guide?

You could knit a square or rectangle with feltable wool, felt it and cut out the letter you want. Would that work? samm

Thanks Samm and Thanks Jints... not quite what i was after!

I wanted to try and make some keyrings for people, with just their initial. I saw on a post somewhere (can't find it now though!) where someone was making an ornament of a christmas tree, which was basically either garter or stocking stitch and so I guess i'm going to go and play with increasing and binding off stitches!!
