REPOST: Anyone ever tried a mystery KAL?
A friend of mine did a mystery pattern knit along with her knitting group. Her LYS lady gave everyone a part of the pattern each time their group met. The assignment was to complete each part before the next meeting and next part of the pattern was handed out. She did not tell them what they were knitting or even gave them a clue. When they were all done, they all had knit a really beautiful shawl.

She said it was fun and exciting. It was also a fairly easy project that most levels could participate in.

Has anyone done one of these before? I think it sounds really neat.

I did the Mystery shawl knit a long. I was not an experienced lace knitter so I was much slower than the rest of the group. I was however getting the hang of it until the mystery was revealed-it was a swan's wing that was asymetrical. That sort of took the wind out of my sails and I didn't finish. I probably will finish sometime. Kemp did the same knit a long and had very good results and seemed very happy. So... your mileage may vary.
