FO: One Row Handspun Scarf
Another scarf done. I used the One Row Handspun Scarf pattern by the Yarn Harlot. This one is for my mother-in-law for Christmas. I dyed two skeins of the yarn she gave me that she had made from wool from her sheep with 14 packets of Black Cherry Kool-Aid. While it's not as dark as I'd hoped it would be I still really like how the color turned out, especially with the few really dark spots.

Since I had dyed both skeins I wanted to use them both up (even though each was around 150 yards), but I should have stopped way sooner than I did. When I completed the knitting it was just over 71 inches long, but I wanted to block it so that it would open up the stitches and even out the edges. Well that stretched this sucker to 77 1/2 inches long and 6 inches wide. Yipes!! While I knew the blocking would stretch it out, I did not think it was gonna be that much.

Hope she doesn't mind having a scarf that's like a foot and a half taller than she is. LOL

The scarf turned out lovely. I like the way you and your mom share your talents and gift each other in a circlely way.

Thank you for reminding me of that lovely pattern from Yarn Harlot.

What a wonderfully nice thing to say. Thank you.

My mother-in-law was pleased when she found out that I had started knitting. Her mother knits and she does a little too, though she mostly crochets. She offered me a few skeins of her yarn when we were up there a few months ago and I was thrilled because I had been wanting to try dyeing. I told her that I was planning on dyeing some with Kool-Aid which astounded her as she'd never heard of that before. I'm really hoping that she likes the color, my husband was the one who suggested it.

Thanks to everyone else who commented as well. I'm happy that you all like the color and the scarf.
