Whoa I've been slacking! Still checking in on the thread regularly.

I've put on some of the pounds I lost, but not all. I fell off the wagon a bit this past week since I was on vacation, but I'm already back on. I feel bloated and gassy Still drinking lots of water and trying to have a high fiber content to my diet.

I want to do a little jump start so I'm trying to go pretty low carb this week. I need to figure out how to do that and still get in my fiber every day. I'm going to to look up high fiber non-starchy vegetables. I'm not going no-carb and I realize I may not lose much because of that, but I'm cutting out my evening grain serving and probably most fruits (the dried cranberries on my salad, raisins in my cereal, etc). Whatever high-carb content grains I do eat I'm going to make sure they are consumed before 3pm. Back to SparkPeople!

Even though I'm still constantly exhausted (I am starting to wonder if there is something physically/medically wrong with me) I am going to make an honest effort to get an acceptable amount of cardio exercise.

On the UFO front: I finished Mr. Greenjeans! And started up the last promised pair of Endpaper Mitts (and bought two skeins of Malabrigo Laceweight--what?! Don't judge! ) I need to finish those mitts this week and then I'm going to poke myself in the eyeballs if I ever have to look at that pattern again! I'm so DONE with making a million pairs of those!!!

Oh and on an unrelated note: I've been accepted to my top 3 choices for graduate programs!! It's a huge weight and stress off my shoulders. Now I just have to wait for the scholarship and financial aid info to roll in.

Checking in:
The doctor & nutritionist suggested for me a low calorie diet since I don't have that much to lose. Not much help there, but they did give me some good tips.
Also since I had chemo she said I may wish to check my thyroid which becomes underactive after chemo. Which may be the reason why it is harder for me to lose weight since I am indeed doing things right.
However, I need to up my work outs which I knew.
I did low cal this week and dropped 5 pounds total, but 4 of those are pounds I had gained back. However, I finally broke the scale barrier as I have yet to dip below that number before and that is after 3 months of working out a lot and counting calroies. I'm very happy as now I know it can be done.
Today I am being very naughty as I'm drinking. A very rough night at work. I'll gladly pay the price later.
I'm at the kitchner stitch of my first diagonal sock. I'll be blending my fibers for spinning this weekend.

I forgot to update... I lost 2lbs last week which takes me up to 14lbs gone in total, which for us Brits is 1 stone!! That's a BIG boost for me in confidence and has made me more determined to carry on.

It's been a while since I posted but I am doing well saying goodbye to these nasty pounds. Since 1/1/08 I've lost 27 lbs as of yesterday. I'll be getting measured Tuesday so I'll post inches lost then. Exercise is a good friend instead of the enemy these days and I've been doing great getting it in. I bought a treadmill from a friend (a yr old but brand new - only used for 5 miles). I've been on that as well as at the gym.

I've never gone this long and not given up. I really feel good about myself. I feel once I relieved myself of some emotional issues it really helped me to stay focused on my long term goal. I want to be healthy for me and my family.

Keep up the good work everyone - Exercise your body as well as your mind.

Mary
