Favorite BIG yarn? I'm knitting on some lately >>
and I LOVE it! I'm using Lana Grande from Cascade.

Looking for other yarns that call for needle sizes 11 and up, and the best places to order from.

Thanks!

I did a big chunky sweater with Lion's Brand Wool-Ease Thick&quick, then a scarf and hat too. I like it. I've used it with 3 strands and size 35 needles for the sweater, 13s and 11s for scarf and hat

I always enjoy using Lion Brands Wool Ease Thick and quick. It knits up so fast, doesn't hurt your hands when you knit, and has a lovely selection of colors.

I have some of that and might try it for knitting...but >>
I am looking for 100% wool. I'm only familiar with Burly Spun and Cascade's Lana Grande. My LYS doesn't carry anything thicker, though I will try to convince her to.

I have used Twinkle Soft Chunky on size 17s and 19s. It is very soft and light.

My brother bought some Cascade Magnum for a hat that I am supposed to make, but haven't started yet.

I like the Misty Baby Alpaca Chunky. I'm working on a scarf on 13's.
I wish I could find a bulky weight cotton blend yarn. Spring is just around the corner here (N. Texas), so there are only so many wooly things that I can make. Well, I guess that I can knit as many wooly things as I want. I just can't wear them very much.

The Rowan Big Wool uses a size 19us and knits up very loverly. It is 100% wool. Also consider WOTA in bulky, although I don't think it is very soft. WOTA is fun for felting, but I don't care for it too much for sweaters and such. If I were going for a KP yarn I that is bulky I would probably go with Cadena which has some alpaca blended with it.

I really like Lion Brand's Landscapes. It's a wool blend knit on Size 13 needles, and they have some very pretty colorways like River Crossing, Campfire, Coral Reef, Rose Garden, and Summer Fields.

Last year I used it to knit a cabled neck tube. I really liked the way it turned out, but I never wore it. So this winter I went back and picked up stitches along the "top" of it and turned it into a hat. I love the colors in it (River Crossing) and the hat is super warm. I'm not normally a big hat person, but I wear this one whenever I get a chance!
