1 stitch too many in lace scarf
Hi,
I am working on my first lace project, based on the "diagonal openwork" stitch pattern from the Harmony Guide's Lace and Eyelet stitch collection. It's a "multiple of 4 + 2" stitch pattern with an 8 row repeat, and I just decided to repeat the pattern in a wide enough swath to make a scarf.

The wrong side is a purl row, the right side is something like
K1, *yf, slip 1, k2tog, psso, yf, k1, repeat from *; rows 3, 5, and 7 move the eyelets down a little by adding or changing the stitches in the front, creating a diagonal effect. The number of stitches should always be the amount you started out with.

I started out with 50 stitches (48 + 2), but within the last two rows I've somehow picked up another stitch. I think I've probably not passed a stitch over (I seem to forget that a lot), but I'm afraid of frogging down the two rows because I don't know if I'll be able to distinguish and pickup the stitches since there are so many yarnovers. I was thinking I could frog down to a purl row below the row where the error happened, since I don't have a lifeline. Is it possible to recover from this without starting over?

Thanks for your help!
~Jean

For 2 rows worth, I'd take out the stitches one at a time, rather than try to recover lace stitches. Even on a purl row, it can be a bit tricky.

Who knows, you might even discover where you made the mistake and only have to unknit to that point.

Then you can put in a lifeline.
