Buttonhole HELP

Can someone help me with this? The pattern says: Rib 6 sts, YO. K2tog, (rib 8 sts, YO, k2tog) 4 times.
I get most of that but where do I put the buttonhole in? That does not seem to construct a buttonhole.
Also, how many stitches wide should a buttonhole be?

a button hole can be just one yo, depends on the size of your needles and the size of the buttons...

Yes, as MAmaDawn says, the "yo, k2tog" creates a little hole that is a common button hole for smallish buttons.
