WIP - Patriotic style scarf

Just wanted to show y'all one of my current projects. This is actually the second scarf I've knitted. The pattern is a basic garter stitch. I picked up the yarn at Wal-Mart a few years ago and didn't really do anything with it. I'm looking to get it at least 5 times the current length. (If I had remembered before I cast on 100 stitches that it was going to be so wide I would have done a lot fewer.) Let me know what you guys think of it so far.

You can always fold it over if it is to wide...I wear a lace shawl as a scarf this way

I am doing my best to keep the stitching nice. I estimated that the width is about 16.5 to 17 inches.
