Very pretty sock! I love the hearts!

The.Knitter~I went to a knitting get together once and was working on a sock. I was at the gusset/picking up stitches point and found that I couldn't talk and concentrate on the pattern to save my life. Made a bunch of mistakes. The next time I went I brought a very simple pattern to work on so I could talk and knit at the same time. Have a great time tonight!

I have a sleeve to work on. It's a garter stitch sleeve. I don't think I can mess it up (I hope). Only time will tell.....

Hi Everyone,
Still working on my very first ever sock, but am doing the ribbed cuff, so the end is in sight. I am loving looking at everyones' beautiful socks - so much to aspire to do! I am using two 16" circular needles, and the worst problems so far are: the yarn - a very nice, light weight worsted, but the needles split the stitches waaay too easily - I need a tighter-spun yarn until I am better at this. Then, there's the heel, I made one, but I'm not really sure how (does that make sense?) since I was blindly following directions and didn't understand WHY I was doing what I was doing. And then, the needles are a bit too slippery for me trying to do this continental purling thingy with picking up a wrapped purl stitch and purling it at the same time, sheesh. But, I'll get it - and I looked up and bookmarked the Sherman heel, so will try that on my next pair of socks. I have to do the mate to this one as I did this one, so will have to wait. Or maybe I won't - I really hated that purling part!
I have been so busy trying to get one sock done, I had to read 6 pages of posts to get here. Can't wait until it gets faster for me. I am not good with names right off, but have to say a big Thank You for all your posts and pictures - very very helpful! I'll take a photo of the first sock when I'm done to share with you - it's been snowing on and off all day up here in Vermont, and I've got a snoring kitty-girl on my lap and knitting to go do next. Life M good!

But you don't have to tell him. Just slip it in with your stash and don't take it out for a week or so and no one will even notice it wasn't there to begin with

siameezerlady: you'll get it. & remember were always here if you need help!
silegose: tell him it's your Valentine gift~simple enough.
When I bought mine on Sat it was $13.50 (dh still doesn't know) and then I saw it today at 11.95 & was like I need more & talked to my neighbor who also bought-we placed 1 order and then didn't pay shipping! Anyway we've decided that she really needs to be on a yarn diet~ she has at least 16 skeins of sock yarn to knit up. I may still get some more? I like to know how stuff knits up before I buy more than one skein so why did I buy 2 of this? it's pretty.
OK back to my sock #2, only a few rows done on the toe sofar!

Ooh, knitgal, that's a good change of plans ! Knit a few rounds on the grey socks now and then, and a bunch on the pink ones, and you'll stay a happy, guilt-free camper !
TheKnitter, I wish I was going with you.......I could use some of that positive energy. You're going to add a lot to that group !

Didn't do any quilting or knitting today,.........50's and sunny meant that I had laundry to get onto the line, and groceries to get on the bicycle. But I did cast on a Jaywalker last night out of my Lumberjack yarn (why........just curious to see what it would look like done in the bias zigzag pattern). My fingers didn't bother the yarn at all, as MagicStripes sock yarn isn't as 'fluffy' as regular Merino wool. Yay ! I was looking at the JayWalkers I was wearing and remembering that I had wanted to change the top to garter-stitch the next time I knit some, since the ribbing just seems bigger than the sock. So I'm trying that, but I thought I should start with fewer stitches than the sock cuff, since the cuff is on the bias, therefore taking more stitches to obtain that size. I reduced my starting stitches to 68 (from 76), but I don't know if it's gonna fly or not. Since there's no ribbed effect to this top, it may not work. But it's all fun to try, right? I also saw some on Flickr where they had done around 2 inches of ribbing, and that looked much better than the 1 inch that I did. I just LOVE the look of JayWalkers and they're my favorite pair to wear.

JulieBerry, that's one gorgeous heart sock............be a rebel and wear that one sock tomorrow..............you can call it your Dobby Valentine.........but WEAR IT !
I'm wearing mine to an appointment, and I get to take my Jaywalkers ! Woo HOo !

Jackie, I missed you ! You sound so adventurous with all the new techniques you're willing to try ! Good for you ! What a good role model for Jayne !
GJ, what weight of yarn is your shawl made from? I love the hubby's knitted hat ! Keep trying to convince Mike to try some of this stuff. His head's muddled today, though, so maybe not the best time.

I can only remember 2 times that I got a Valentine from him.......our first Valentine's Day together I got a heart box of chocolates and a big stuffed bear. And a few years ago, I got a little heart box of chocolates and this little bear..........I keep him out all the time ! This one says 2000 on the little card on back, in code, and I think that's probably the year I got it..........was on a huge animal print trip right about then ! I treasure him ! It was such a rare treat. I love your way, Dustina, of making a fuss over the little things he remembers to get for you ! I totally love that !

Hi socksters,
I went to the chiropractor today. My elbow feels better, but she couldn't figure out what was wrong with my finger. Oh well. I go to the hand therapist on Friday. We'll see what he says. I'm supposed to get new ring splints for my thumbs!

My knitted shawl is with lace-weight yarn, knitted on size 9s, so it's really open looking.

Everyone's socks look LOVELY!

Good luck Friday GJ! I hope they are able to find out what is wrong and fix it so you can keep on knitting.
