Evening everyone!

Julie- on buying the spindle and roving. Very pretty! Make something special out of it for you! The CPH looks great and the buttons are perfect!

Gina-The GG came out beautiful! Is DD happy with it? Can't wait to see what pattern you swatched for you next sweater.

Karina- for your pup! Hope he's on the mend soon. Your new pool sounds great. We could have used it last week when it was in the 90's.

Ann- Your Hedera sock looks great! and the scenery is wonderful. Glad you had a good time at the cottage. I've never tried dying yarn yet. Very pretty.

Hi Silegose! Glad you checked in with us. DD will be heading back to Indy next month.

Dustina-Did you get the lawn done today? We've had rain and thunder storms all day. Can't wait to see Isaiah's socks.

Christine-Resting up and getting some knitting done?

Bobbi-Congrats on the new job!

Hi to everyone else out there! Work has been crazy. I had to go get x-rays on my ankle today. I did something to it a week or so ago while running. Not sure if it's tendonitis or a stress fracture. I hoping for tendonitis as it will heal faster. I should find out tomorrow.

Have a great night !

I've never seen anything like it before. It also seemed really weird how it was like as soon as you cross the border into Nebraska, everything looked normal. But I guess weather doesn't really have to make sense, does it.
I'm from eastern Iowa, the Quad Cities region, right along the Miss. I've got family over on the other side (OK so my family is all over the state...). Illinois has been getting just as battered as Iowa recently - no mysterious river crossing weather effects here!

All of your purchases are BEAUTIFUL. I'm jealous of your CPH. I totally don't have the patience to make one. I've decided to make cabled socks out of my Wings, though, so those should be OTN soon...
Does anyone have a favorite SHORT cabled sock pattern? Only a couple inches or less of cuff?

Thanks for all the compliments guys.
Gina I'll share
Ok so the socks I wanted to make for the 3-6 mo size, fit Katie's fat foot, so I'll finish them for her I guess since baby Anne wont be big enough to wear them before it gets hot, gonna try co of 28 since nb are 24 and the ones that fit Caitlin are 32, all in sport weight yarn and on size 2s...whatcha think?

Jess as for a short cable sock pattern, do you want it on the heel like Lieke made? or do you want it on the cuff? Are you part of Ravelry? You can pretty much use any sock pattern and just add a cable to it, it will be a tiny bit snug so I'd co another 4 sts probably, if you're using a stitch count that you'd used before.

Yes, I got one blanket finished today and the second one well on the way to being finished. I have one more being delivered personally to me tomorrow and one that was being mailed today. Then I have a baby dress to finish and a bed jacket to get at. Once that is all done, I have to knit my DH a pair of socks. Then perhaps I can knit up the pair of socks that are waiting here for me to make for myself.

As for the resting up, NO! The lady upstairs started a huge fight with my DH tonight, with the landlords both present. Apparently my DH had the nerve to get upset because her children have destroyed the little patch of rhubarb my DH has been nursing along for two years now. He told her, for the second time, that the children were throwing things into the only little patch of the yard we ever bother with. She said it was our fault for putting the plants in a high traffic area and that her children play ball there so we should have known the plants would not survive there. She kept on yelling that it was "her" yard and she had "given us permission" to use it. My DH flipped. He told her we pay our rent and can use the yard any time we want because it's in our contract that we can. We haven't this year because she says we are "not allowed" to bring the dog into the yard because her children play there and she doesn't want them playing where there might be pee or poop. Because she won't allow us in the yard with the dog, we haven't gone into the backyard and refuse to help with the grass cutting and general maintenance. Why should we if we are "not allowed" in there?

She also kept yelling that in her rental contract it said they are responsible for keeping it clean, which they sure do not bother to do. She told the landlord that last year we did half the work (not true, we did 9-10ths of it last year and the year before) and that we haven't done any this year (ahhh boo hoo). The landlord already knew why we would not do anything in the yard. I only trimmed the tree because it was hanging onto the sidewalk and the city would have been after the landlord for it. Also, it was in the way when I took Boots for walks.

It is so dumpy looking here. The landlord says it looks like it has not been taken care of in a long time. I agreed. He (the landlord) is sending a landscaping company in to remove the poison ivy once it has died from the spray he put on it today.

I want so badly to move out of this hell hole. I really really dislike these people.

Now there is poison ivy in the yard and the City came here twice today. They gave the landlord until Monday to have it removed. I am glad now that I kept Boots out of their precious yard. It's bad enough I had to deal with them putting down poison, imagine how sick he'd have gotten if he got into poison ivy?

So Lisa, I'm sorry for the rant, but I guess I did answer your questions!

Ann- It felt SO good, lol! Especially since it was the job I really wanted.

Julie- The kids are mostly between the ages of 1 and 5, with just a few older kids, and I'll get just a mixture of everybody.

You guys are as busy as ever. I want to thank you for having a Sock KAL, thanks to this thread and you guys, I knit and finsihed a pair of socks and had fun doing it, and started another pair.
Now the bad part, I was reading all the sweater posts, and if you remember I was disappointed with my sweater knitting skills, always the end product turning out wrong after all my work. So I came here to give socks another try. Well, I got swept away and took another sweater class, I went to class, the teacher helped me do my gauge and she had me start my sweater and sent me home ti knit 13 inches of pattern.
Well, I went to knitting tonight with about six inches of the lace pattern done on 288 stitches, I was thinking this is huge, but it was the same as the gauge piece I did. Well, the teacher looked at it and told me I need to go down a size in needle. I don't understand, I told her this is the same as my gauge piece why is it wrong now. She had no answer and I understood. So I decided I am not going to continue with this sweater. I will take a break and knit more socks for awhile. I feel I made a good choice.
I guess I can't blame her for not wanting to be responsible for a project not fitting, but I paid for a class and would like to know how to knit gauge and have a sweater turn out, not have to fog and reknitt and fog and reknitt, I lose interest. I am paying for guidance.
Maybe there is someone someplace that can go step by step with me to get this right (a knitting fariy, maybe). I know I still want to do sweaters, but for now I need the comfort of doing a project that I know will turn out in the end.
I am sorry to go on and on, I guess I figured you guys would understand. Now, I want to knit some bamboo socks after my On LIne ones are done. Come on socks!

Marilyn, I feel your pain! I've never taken a sweater class, but I've made several sweaters. The thing that helps me MOST is a tape measure and a LONG cable, so I can try on as I go. The sweater I just started... I had three inches done, tried it on and it was too big. HOWEVER....it's supposed to have a wavy edge at the bottom, so I went down a needle size and did enough decreases to make it the next smaller size. Cheating, I know, but I think it will work! I also rechecked my gauge and found that since I'm knitting in the round, it's different than my swatch.
I made my mom a sweater last year. After knitting the back, I found that it would be a little too big for her, so I made the front a smaller size (width, not length), and it ended up fitting perfectly.
But you don't HAVE to knit sweaters! Socks are fun, too!
I agree that your teacher should have given more guidance! I can't imagine sending you off to just knit that many inches without instructions to check size, etc.

Bobbi, I'm so glad you like your job so far!

Christine, what a horrible situation! I hope it gets better!

DH and I have been watching TV and knitting tonight. He's almost ready for heel # 2! I'm so proud of him. I'm glad he finds knitting relaxing! I know I do, but I do have to be careful not to knit too much! I got 4" of my lacy top done. I'm LOVING it. I'll try to post pics tomorrow.

Christine, I'm so sorry they're being butt heads again, the only thing I can say (besides document, like you're doing) is that you have to look at this as if it is your cross to carry. I'm sure you're praying, but keep it up, that's the only way it will get easier, or maybe they'll move (miracles do happen).
Bless your heart!

Marilynn When you did your gauge swatch did it include the pattern, or was it just stock. stitch? What pattern are you working on? Maybe we could pull together with all our (ah-hem) knowledge & try to help you. way to go on the socks! I have some bamboo to knit up too.

Dh helped me make a spindle tonight, not very good though...the 'hook' ontop isn't centered & I think the 'pole' should be a bit smaller & well it didn't cost much, a few dollars. But I did get the PVC pipe to make a niddy noddy to wind the yarn I make into skeins.

hi
Morning,

I was in the frogging pond last night, after finishing the first handle of the BYOB, i discovered that the second handle will not be in-line with the first one hence it will not be "balance" on both side..guess it must be the Set-up round that was of wrong calcualtion....
