Well things are back normal [?? whatever that is] with my wife back from a successful productino in England and my parents back to North Carolina. Friday night was fun--we had 7 people and 3 birds in our 3-bedroom house!!

I need a small crochet hook too. My socks are going well, but I missed the twist stitch on one round. When I dropped those 2 stitches to go back 2 rows and fix it, I ended up dropping the stich next to it & didn't notice it till the next round so I had to do it AGAIN and I was just using a tapestry needle. It was a mess (still looks a little scruffy) but it'll survive. This is about 1/2way through the second repeat of the cable pattern.

QOTD: I'm the director of IT (computer stuff with some phones thrown in for good measure) at a small seminary. My wife doesn't have a "9-5" job she goes to, but she plays keyboard & piano for one service a week each at two different churches (three for the moment) and does freelance transcription jobs.

Rebecca, I'll definitely be picking that book up when it comes out. Congrats!!!

Gina, if you can tell me what I've done, you can call me whatever you want!

Basically, it looks like the last st worked on the right needle is connected directly to the second st on the left needle. And get this - there appears to be no dropped sts! (Sorry about the fuzziness. My next camera will be capable of CUs of my knitting.)
I have one of those tiny crotchet hooks somewhere, but I couldn't find it when I needed it. I have the same problem with loosing my knitting implements. I think I'm going to need a caribiner so I can attach that thing to whatever bag I'm using at the moment.

Lady V. do you have a 'flower' option on your camera? if so it will take non fuzzy close ups. Sorry I haven't done that pattern, and from that pic I can't tell what you did.

The dog is wonderful. She's very smart and living with her for a few days gave me an idea of how I want to run life with my own dog when I get one. For one thing, she is allowed in the kitchen and dining room but not in the living room - so if the family is watching TV or some such she has to sit by herself, but when you are eating she will all but climb on top of you begging (when they have friends over she has to be locked in her kennel). She also doesn't really know "Stay" or "Drop" although "sit" works, and as long as she isn't doing something she knows she shouldn't, she'll come to a whistle or her name. I find this dangerous - she got ahold of the lid of a dog food can (it fell out of the garbage in the garage and she grabbed it while I was looking for her ball). I was worried about her cutting her mouth or worse SWALLOWING the thing and hurting her already screwed up digestive system, so first tried calling her in my best, "come here I have a treat for you voice," but she knew she wasn't supposed to have it so she wouldn't come. Then I tried sit, and she did until I took a step forward. Then "Drop it" - no luck. Finally she set it down from about ten feet away to grin at me and I took a chance at charging her full speed. The look on her face was priceless as she realized that she couldn't pick it up and get out of my way in time. She knew she was in big trouble and went directly to her kennel. I applaud the effectiveness of their crate/kennel training.

Thanks!

In other news, I got a new computer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its a blue gateway laptop. It's smaller than my other (which drives my dad crazy, he can't understand why one would want a smaller screen... I told him to carry my 15.4" hp around the country and world from airport to airport and he'll be pleased by the lighter variety also.) So far the screen seems fine to me!

Yesterday was wonderful also because my one friend who has been in Europe for over a year (SO jealous, she saw about ten countries and lived in rome for a year and paris for two months... but then again no great barrier reef) came up to meet me in the QC. Our families did lunch but prior to that the two of us went down to the farmer's market and then for drinks at the mall.
By little crochet hook are you referring to gauge or entire size (ie is this a short one too?) - I have a few crochet hooks of different sizes, but all the same length.

Good Morning Socksters!!

Gina~Love the apron!! I'm a huge bargain shoppper

Steve~Lookin' good and prolly you will be able to tell it

Lady Violet~ I can't really tell by the photo but it kinda looks like there is one lose thread that maybe should have been the one you grabbed to catch the sts?

Christine~I'm sorry you guys had a rough time and hope you two feel better soon

Julie~ I was answering how I liked the Louet gems yarn...I'll look in ravelry for a stole

Lieke~Can't wait to see the picts!

Jess~ YAY for a new computer!!

Lisa~I tried to cut the grass early Friday morning and got the blade stuck (I thought I could fix the lawn mower)...we still haven't gotten any rain, if it keeps this up I won't have to get a new one but boy do we need rain

Jackie~Are you busy knitting the socks?

Ann~I hope you had a good weekend!!

Chris~ Just gonna go ahead and do that 'cause you will crack me up sometime today...

Karina~Did I miss her going on a holiday/vacation?

Sue~I hope you are doing good!!

Carla~How are those socks comin'?

Bobbie~I wouldn't feel bad about the jeans either...I would do the same thing

dotty~Miss ya

Hi everyone!!

Usually to catch a st I use the tip of my needle that I'm knitting with...that way I don't have to look around for things or keep them near me if I go outside...I have used a tapestry needle before and a crochet hook...but find the tip of the options is pointy enough to fix most mistakes

I started my other mitten last night and hoping today I can finish it up...waiting for the car place to call me with my fingers crossed right now so I can't knit

I hope you all have a great day of knitting

Good morning everyone.

Christine: Good to see you back. Sorry to hear that the holiday was not up to expectations. Hope you are both feeling better now.

These are the dishcloths I made for friends who do the walk for breast cancer every year.

I'd seen the ribbon cloth before but not the booby one, that's cute. I know there's a pattern on knitty I think for making boobs, actual stuffed boobs for just that cause, women who'd had a mastectomy (or 2) that want to have something to use in their bras. I think it's important for their confidence, my Grandma had a double mastectomy a looooooooong time ago & had sylicone implants put in. She still goes for a yearly mamo & hasn't ever had a problem with them.
